How do you get accepted in a modeling agency?

My friend sent her photos to a modeling agency here in the Philippines and they invited her to visit their office. She hasn’t scheduled an appointment yet because she doesn’t know anything about the screening process.

What happens if she meets with the agency? What are the steps involved in the screening process before an aspiring model can be accepted by an agency?

Is Modelo Pilipinas reliable?

Well I suppose it is the same in the United States, but this is what happened when I went to visit the office.

I was told to go to the office with no makeup on. There, we had a little conversation about what I did, like sports and stuff. Then they measured how tall I was, how much I weighed, ETC. Most editorial(magazines) models must be atleast 6 feet. Since I was a mere 5 ft 8 in, they told me that I should wait until I fully grow to my highest height then take my portfolio shots. They also said I should try to take as many acting classes I can so I could try commercials/TV shows.

I hope it helps somewhat!

What are the average earnings of the models your modeling agency represents?

What are the average earnings of the models your modeling agency represents?

Best reply by Tonya L:

What kind of modeling? Are you talking about print ads? Runway shows? Commercials? Are we talking about for magazines? Billboards? Mailings (e.g. weekly store ads) Brand name? In-store ads?

It depends on many factors. Location is a major factor, sometimes even more than looks. If you are trying to get into modeling, take your portfolio, highlighting your previous work to several agencies to see if they can offer you better work.

Magazine cover models get paid very little because it is that picture that will lead them to many high paying jobs. You need to not focus on the money right away and focus on the exposure. The more exposure you have, the more you will be able to negotiate your price.
